Paul Merson predicts result of Everton v Brighton
Everton will face Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as they look to start 2022 with a bang.
Ahead of the match, Paul Merson has predicted a 2-0 defeat for the home side.
The popular pundit feels that Brighton are a “bag of Revels”, and that they can beat the Toffees comfortably.

Merson wrote for SportsKeeda: “I was at the Chelsea game last night and felt Brighton were absolutely outstanding – they gave Chelsea a footballing lesson. If they play like that once again, they’ll beat Everton comfortably.
“That said, Brighton could’ve been absolutely slaughtered against Southampton – they could have conceded ten the other day but the game finished 1-1.
“Brighton are a bag of Revels – if a good one turns up, they will get three points against Everton.”
Hard to predict
Everton got a nearly two-week break since their last Premier League game where they managed a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
The Toffees were one of the clubs that were severely affected with injuries and covid problems, and Premier League had to postpone their festive-period games.
Merson is spot on about Brighton’s impressive performance against Chelsea, but their overall recent form hasn’t been good.

They have managed just one win in their last 13 games. They drew nine times during that period, and there’s no reason why Graham Potter’s side should be given extra respect.
Obviously, Everton’s form has been equally pathetic at times, with Rafa Benitez’s side picking up just one win from their last 11 games. The injuries and fitness issues have hurt the Toffees and the squad has looked bereft of confidence.
The break could be a blessing in disguise if the Toffees can get their key players back.
