Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Everton clash v Brighton

Everton will face Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday at Goodison Park.

Ahead of the match, Mark Lawrenson has predicted a 1-1 draw for this game.

The Toffees are miserably poor at the moment, while Brighton are equally struggling to get wins under their belt.

Lawrenson has rightly pointed out that it’s hard to make a prediction about Everton here as they haven’t played during the festive period.

Writing his column for the BBC Sport website, Lawrenson notes: “Everton have had their past three games postponed so it is hard to know what to expect from them at the moment.

“For the home fans, this will probably feel like a game they should be winning but, as Brighton keep showing with their habit of grabbing late equalisers, they are a tough nut to crack.”

Form guide

The Toffees have managed just one win from their last 11 games in the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez has been unlucky with injuries, while there is a feeling that the squad needs rebuilding as well.

The festive period break came as a blessing in disguise for the Toffees. The likes of Allan, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies have now returned to training, although they could still be short of match fitness.

Everton

Brighton have done relatively well under Graham Potter but they have been very inconsistent with their performances.

They have managed just one win from their last 14 games in all competitions. Yes, they haven’t lost many, but they couldn’t convert those draws into wins as well.

Everton fans have voiced their frustrations this season already at Goodison Park, but the atmosphere could get electric if they play well and secure a positive result.

In other Everton news, a 30 y/o striker agrees to leave the club this winter.
