Rafa Benitez wants to sign at least two players in January

Rafa Benitez has suggested on 31 December that he is confident of signing two or three players for Everton in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard is looking to bolster the squad in January but has suggested that the market will be difficult due to financial constraints and covid situations.

Everton will face Brighton in their next Premier League game on Sunday, and Benitez is happy with key players returning from injury.

Everton

Benitez said in the pre-match conference, as relayed by Adam Jones of the Liverpool Echo. He posted on Twitter that Benitez said: “We are working hard. We are trying to find some targets to improve the team. Everybody knows how difficult January is. Everybody is a little bit worried about Covid, no-one wants to spend too much money. That is complicated.”

“I am quite confident we will do two or three things.”

Interesting phase

Everton fans have vented their frustration in recent games with the results being very poor. They have just managed one win in their past 11 games.

Benitez was really unlucky with the Toffees squad being severely ravaged with injuries. Also, the majority of the fans feel that the squad needs an overhaul.

With key players now returning from injuries, this is a crucial phase for Everton. The results from here on will determine Benitez’s future. He can’t have excuses anymore.

The results must improve.

At the same time, he will be given funds to bring in the players of his choice, though the winter market can be very difficult in getting the first-choice targets.

Benitez has suggested that he is “confident” of signing two to three players, which probably gives a hint that the Toffees are probably working on several deals.

However, the primary focus should be now getting three points against Brighton on Sunday.
