Michael Keane provides Everton vaccination update, and there’s a divide

Everton and the Premier League have encouraged players to receive their COVID-19 vaccine but Michael Keane has revealed not all Toffees’ players have been jabbed.

The powers that be are yet to make the vaccine compulsory and likely won’t as to not take away the freedom of choice from the players.

Keane himself is one who has got the vaccine but he has admitted that not all of Rafael Benitez’s squad have done the same.

“I think most of our lads are vaccinated, there are a few that aren’t and it is up to them if they want to change their mind. But the club are trying to do everything they can.” Keane said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“The club are pushing everybody to get the vaccine and protect themselves and the people in this building.

“It is everyone’s choice at the end of the day but the club are doing what they can to persuade people.”

Crossroads approaching

This most recent spike in COVID-19 cases has wreaked havoc on games across the Premier League and the EFL.

Every weekend is seeing dozens of games fall by the wayside with clubs having to cope with outbreaks within their training grounds to compound any injuries already whittling the available squad size down.

Everton have had their fair share of injuries that have hampered their campaign so far with Dominic Calvert-Lewin a notable absentee since August.

Postponements however could have been avoided if managers had the guts to play some of their academy talents.

Too often games have been called off because Premier League sides haven’t had their multi-million-pound stars and they don’t want to risk a defeat because less experienced players have been thrown into the limelight.

You would think then that if these academy stars were given a chance, no team in the Premier League should have trouble fielding a side in any game with maybe 40-50 players on each club’s books.

The hard end to the season in May could cause some teams to play three times in some weeks to get every game done before the season’s close.
