Everton in advanced talks to sign Nathan Patterson

Everton are in advanced talks to sign Nathan Patterson from Rangers, according to reports from The Express.

Despite one win in their last 12 games, the Toffees are really backing their manager, Rafa Benitez, in the January window.

The Toffees confirmed the signing of Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dinamo Kiev on Saturday, and it seems they are working on a deal to get their second big signing of this month.

Brilliant move

The Express claim that Benitez is confident that he can turn things around if he is properly backed in the market.

Signing a right-back was necessary, and it seems they are close to securing their long-term target, having failed to sign him in the summer.

The Toffees are looking to strike a deal in the region of £10million for the youngster, who has already made six appearances for the Scotland national team.

The deal is expected to be completed within the next week, as Rangers are negotiating on a number of performance-related add ons.

Patterson is a highly-rated young talent who has produced assured performances for both club and country.

However, it is unfortunate that in his position, Rangers have their skipper, James Tavernier, who has been in great form.

At the same time, the youngster wants to play regular games, and so a move to Everton makes a lot of sense. It suits all parties involved.

He can be a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman, but at the moment, it seems he will compete with the Toffees skipper for a regular starting berth.

His potential arrival also puts serious question mark on Jonjoe Kenny’s future at the club.

In other Everton news, this Toffees defender has spoken out about vaccinations at the club.
