Newcastle line up move for Everton defender Lucas Digne
Newcastle are reportedly lining up a January move for Everton defender Lucas Digne.
According to talkSPORT, the super-rich Saudi-owned club are looking to add to their side in the winter window and have identified the 28-year-old as a target.
They’re understood to be prepared to make an offer and an exit is likely given his fractious relationship with Rafa Benitez.
Via their official Twitter account, talkSPORT wrote, “Newcastle are lining up a move for Everton’s Lucas Digne. The left-back has reportedly fallen out with Toffees boss Rafa Benitez.”
Sell for big money
At 28, it could be argued that Digne is in the prime of his career and there’s understood to be a host of clubs keen on his services.
He is a full France international and has been a regular in Didier Deschamps’ squad over the last few months.
Prior to his falling out with Benitez, he was one of the Toffees’ best players and undoubtedly among the top five left-backs in the Premier League.
Bar Liverpool and Manchester City, the Frenchman walks into the other 17 Premier League elevens and would be a great signing for Newcastle.

Given the Tyneside outfit’s embarrassment of riches, the Toffees must demand a big transfer fee in order to let go of Digne.
They know that Newcastle are desperate to throw the kitchen sink at players as they’re fighting a relegation battle and could be open to overpaying for Digne.
