Lucas Digne ‘edging closer to exit’ at Everton – report

Lucas Digne is ‘edging closer’ to the exit door at Everton with four clubs considering making a move for the defender, according to talkSPORT.

The French defender has been tipped to leave Goodison Park this summer after a fallout with manager Rafa Benitez, who confirmed on Friday (January 7) that the player has asked to be granted a transfer away.

Now talkSPORT have reported that the 29-year-old left-back is ‘edging closer’ to the exit door with four Premier League clubs interested in signing him.

Everton

According to Alex Crook, Digne isn’t totally convinced by the project at Newcastle United while his wages are deemed to be a problem for West Ham.

Chelsea are another club keen to sign Digne, but they are mulling over the £30m asking price, with Crook then admitting that he would’t rule out Aston Villa from the race.

Divorce

All signs point towards a nasty divorce between the two parties this winter and it comes down to whoever can match Everton’s demands.

The club want £30m for the former Barcelona man, who has been dubbed as ‘dynamic‘ in the past, but it seems that most clubs would ideally want a loan first to justify the cost.

Digne’s wages are also proving to be an issue, which causes a problem for Everton to sell but also for other clubs to try and sign him.

It’s inevitable that Digne will leave the club this winter and Everton will likely be better for it, judging by the recent comments of Benitez.

The question is where he will go, but as talkSPORT say the deal is edging closer to happening regardless of where he ends up.
