Jim White reacts as Everton confirm Lucas Digne move to Aston Villa
Lucas Digne is no longer an Everton player with the Merseyside club confirming his move to Aston Villa on Thursday morning.
An official statement on the Blues’ website says that Digne, 28, has moved to the West Midlands for an “undisclosed fee”.
TalkSPORT host Jim White has reacted to the news, reporting that the fee Villa have agreed to pay for Digne is £22.5million.
“It’s all going off,” White said via his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning.
“Lucas Digne signs for Aston Villa – 27m euros.”
Gut-wrenching
Rafa Benitez has just sold one of our best players to one of our closest rivals in the Premier League.
Brilliant.
Benitez really hasn’t started well at Goodison Park and a lot of fans totally expected that to happen.
And while the poor form can be put down to how bad we ended last season under Carlo Ancelotti, the fact that Benitez has fallen out with Digne to the point he’s been sold is ringing massive alarm bells.
Who next?
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have both been linked with other clubs and are among our best players at Goodison Park.
It would be unthinkable to sell them but we wouldn’t put it past Benitez based on his recent – and previous – history of alienating players.
In other Everton news, Villa are now set to beat the Blues to signing this player.
