Everton agree compensation to sack Rafa Benitez

Everton have reportedly agreed to a compensation fee for the immediate dismissal of manager Rafa Benitez.

According to talkSPORT, the club hierarchy made this decision after the 2-1 loss to Norwich on Saturday.

An official announcement is expected soon as the club have opted to continue the rest of the season without his services.

Via their official Twitter account, talkSPORT wrote, “Everton are now expected to sack Rafael Benitez as their manager. A compensation deal has been agreed. An announcement is expected soon.”

This is it

Benitez was walking on thin ice the day he stepped onto the grass of Goodison Park.

The ice has melted with only six months into the job and there is little to say to make a valid case for why he deserves to stay.

Results have been dismal, the style of play has been far from eye-catching and instead of winning over players, he’s isolated key names in the dressing room which has led to their exit as has been the case with James Rodriguez and Lucas Digne.

What’s surprising is how Farhad Moshiri allowed Digne to be sold only to sack Benitez a few weeks after that.

This is not a good look for him either as he was the one who decided to appoint Benitez in the first place.

The Everton fans now probably hold an even lower opinion of the Spaniard than they did before he took over the reins at the club.

In other Everton news, the club want to sign a player labelled ‘Excellent’ by Cristiano Ronaldo with the European club keen on cashing in.
