Everton ownership assessing Rafa Benitez’s future after Norwich loss
Farhad Moshiri and the Everton owners are assessing Rafa Benitez’s future at the club after they suffered a 2-1 loss against Norwich on Saturday (January 15).
That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who claims that a number of sources close to the Toffees believe that there is no way back for the Spaniard.
This comes only days after the club backed Benitez and offloaded Lucas Digne after he fell out with the manager.
Ornstein wrote on Twitter, “Growing uncertainty over Rafael Benitez future as Everton boss after Norwich loss. Multiple sources close to #EFC think there’s no way back & feel he’ll be gone before Aston Villa visit next Saturday. Ownership assessing.”
Got to go?
Benitez has been an unpopular appointment weeks before the decision was even made by the club.
From the moment his name was thrown in the mix, there was scepticism surrounding him being the right man.
The fact that he achieved success at Liverpool was only a small part of the problem, but they doubted his managerial credentials as well.

Apart from that, he also referred to Everton as a small club in the past and had no right way to justify that once he was asked about it.
Moshiri made the decision to hire him even though the board opposed it and he’s now believed to be deciding what to do.
From how we see it, there is no way back for the Spaniard and it could be the end of his Everton reign.
In other Everton news, the club want to sign a player labelled ‘Excellent’ by Cristiano Ronaldo with the European club keen on cashing in.
