Jamie Carragher reacts instantly as Everton sack Rafa Benitez after loss at Norwich
Everton have sacked manager Rafa Benitez after their 2-1 defeat away to Norwich on Saturday.
The news was confirmed via Everton’s official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.
Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher was quick to react to the news of Benitez’s dismissal on Twitter.
He simply tweeted to say: “Rafa Benitez sacked.”
Carragher then followed that up with the eyes emoji as well as an image of impersonator Darren Farley dressed as Benitez in Everton kit but with a Liverpool wooly hat on.
Time to rebuild again – again
Benitez’s spell at Goodison Park may have been really short but the amount of damage that’s been done in that time is untold.
He’s overseen the exits of Marcel Brands and our chief medical man, as well as selling Lucas Digne to Aston Villa.
Everton sanctioned that Digne sale mainly because he’d fallen out with Benitez. But then they sacked Benitez anyway.
Nathan Patterson and Vitaly Mykolenko must be feeling a bit aggrieved by this as they were brought in by Benitez earlier this month while there has been some speculation about who actually wanted Anwar El Ghazi at Goodison.
And what about the fans?
It’s fair to say that the majority didn’t want Benitez anywhere near the blue half of Merseyside when he was first linked in the summer.
Everyone knew that as soon as the form dipped, it would be almost impossible for Benitez to win the support of the masses.
Farhad Moshiri has a lot to answer for.
In other Everton news, this three-times league winner could be lined up.
