BBC journalist suggests Everton sacking Rafa Benitez would be extraordinary
Everton have sacked Rafa Benitez on Sunday and BBC journalist, Alistair Magowan finds it as “extraordinary.”
Toffees have finally made the official decision to relieve him of his duties following a dismal run of results.
Everton have picked up just one win in 13 games in the league, and lost 2-1 against Norwich City on Saturday.

Magowan wrote on Twitter: “In (the) last couple of months, Rafa Benitez has seen off James Rodriguez, Everton’s director of medical services, its director of football Marcel Brands and Lucas Digne.
“It would be extraordinary to give him that much power and then sack him so soon afterwards.”
Extraordinary
Magowan is absolutely spot on here.
Benitez has enjoyed so much power here, and yet he was shown the exit door after making three signings this month!
The Spaniard signed Vitaliy Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson, and Anwar El Ghazi this January, and it was expected that he would make a squad overhaul.
However, the results have been poor, and the club hierarchy probably has realised that he is not the man to take the Toffees forward.
Forget about the power struggle, and the way popular players at the club are being replaced – it’s Benitez’s poor tactics and antediluvian systems that are causing the damage.
Yes, the squad lacks quality, but they are still good enough to pick up wins against bottom-placed clubs.
He has run out of excuses. And the right decision has been made.
What has been really extraordinary in this situation is how he has been allowed to cause such a mess!
