Graham Potter is on Everton shortlist to become their next manager

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is on the shortlist as Everton look to appoint their next manager, according to Sky Sports.

The Toffees are in search of a new boss after parting ways with Rafa Benitez on Sunday (16 January), and a couple of names have been linked with the job already.

Potter, 46, was one of those the club considered for the job in the summer before appointing the Benitez, and they are now looking at him again.

Not surprising

Farhad Moshiri made a mistake appointing the former Liverpool boss in the first place, and the damage has been done already.

The Goodison Park outfit cannot afford to get it wrong again after five managers in six years, and they need to do everything they can to lure Potter away from Brighton.

One of his former charges at Swansea City calls him a “genius” to this day, and it is not hard to see why.

His side currently play some of the best football on offer in the Premier League, and Everton could do with such a manager.

Fans did not like Benitez’s pragmatic style of play, with Lucas Digne leaving for Aston Villa a few days ago as a result, but in Potter, the Toffees will be getting a top manager capable of playing attractive football and getting results.

Ideally, Moshiri will love to get someone like Pep Guardiola, but he can get someone similar to the Catalan in the Seagulls boss.

Everton will have to part with a hefty compensation and convince the Englishman that their project on Merseyside is better, and that could be a difficult thing to do.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
