Jamie Carragher shares how Liverpool fans reacted after Everton sack Rafa Benitez
Everton have sacked their manager Rafa Benitez on Sunday (16 January), the club have confirmed.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has shared that Liverpool fans chanted Benitez’s name loudly at Anfield after the news broke out.
Benitez was sacked following a poor run of form, where the Toffees managed just one win in 13 Premier League games.

Carragher tweeted: “Rafa Benitez’s name is getting chanted loudly at Anfield!”
Finally
Liverpool are playing Brentford in their Premier League clash today when the news broke out.
Benitez, the former Reds manager, is still a favourite figure among the Liverpool supporters and needless to say they’ll be overjoyed with the news.
For Everton, it’s the right move, although it should have been taken much earlier.
The Toffees have learnt a hard lesson here. They shouldn’t have appointed someone who simply couldn’t get any affection from the fans right from the beginning.

However, it’s not about the fans that resulted in his sacking.
It is all about the poor run in the league. Yes, Everton have struggled with injuries. Yes, Everton have issues with squad depth. Yes, Everton operated on a tight budget in the summer.
Having said that, the Toffees still have a decent squad to win games, especially against lower teams.
Despite new additions, the squad has looked bereft of confidence. It’s been a mess, but hopefully, Farhad Moshiri will get the next manager right next time.
In other Everton news, this three-times league winner could be lined up.
