Everton manager deal for Roberto Martinez hits the skids, supremos turn nose up

Everton supremos have turned their noses up at the potential of Roberto Martinez managing Belgium alongside the Toffees.

That’s according to the Daily Star (print edition, 18 January) who report that a deal has hit the skids in the past 24 hours.

It is reported that it would take a significant financial package to land Martinez, something that has been made harder with no director of football in charge.

Given that Martinez appears to have so much power at Belgium, things couldn’t really be harder to get a deal over the line.

With the World Cup coming up, it will either be pay up or look elsewhere for the Toffees, there looks to be no point in pushing for a bargain deal.

The fee is only suggested to be £2million though, something that would come as spare change for someone such as Farhad Moshiri [Daily Mail].

We have seen far too often that the board can get split on huge decisions such as this, and they need to come together to get a plan in place before rushing into things.

Tangled.

This is just becoming more complicated by the day, and it looks as though we are no closer to getting the answers we all deserve.

Once again, there was no real planning going into this huge decision and the Belgian FA are making things as hard as ever.

All the signs looked good, but the timing couldn’t be worst as he prepares for another shot at the World Cup with the Red Devils – possibly one of their last before this golden era starts to be separated.

There is no need to drag this on for Moshiri, though, if he doesn’t pay the compensation, he has to move on and look elsewhere.
