Everton set to appoint Duncan Ferguson as caretaker boss, he’s open to permanent job
Everton are set to appoint Duncan Ferguson as caretaker manager after a move for Belgium boss Roberto Martinez stalled, according to Sportsmail.
With talks for the Spaniard not going as expected due to the £2million release clause in his contract, the Toffees have turned to their legend, who is on standby to resume his temporary role in charge of the club.
Ferguson is set to take training at the club’s Finch Farm base today and he has made it clear he would be happy to take on the role permanently.

Give it to him
It is unknown if Everton owner Farhad Moshiri would be prepared to hand the former striker the reins on a permanent basis, but he is probably a choice a lot of the fans will agree with more than anyone.
Despite being a Scot, Ferguson is an Evertonian to the core, and he has been around enough and worked with several managers to know what works and what does not by now.
The majority shareholder has already made several mistakes when it comes to making managerial decisions, and giving the Toffees hero a chance would not hurt.

Ferguson was in charge for three league games after Marco Silva was sacked, and he showed a glimpse of what he is capable of potentially producing calling the shots from the dugout.
He oversaw a 3-1 win over Chelsea, a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford and a 0-0 draw against Arsenal at Goodison Park, with his passion transmitting to those on the pitch.
The Blues could do with such a figure on the touchline right now and going forward.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
