Everton to approach Derby for permission to interview Rooney
Everton are expected to approach Derby County for permission to interview Wayne Rooney, according to Sky Sports.
The Toffees are keen on the former England international striker as they search for Rafa Benitez’s replacement, and he would find it difficult to say no if he was ever offered the job.
Frank Lampard is also on their radar and is expected to be interviewed too, but the fans would surely prefer to have one of their own back in the dugout.

Despite the challenges at Derby, Rooney has managed to proved himself since taking over as manager, and he could be perfect for the Toffees job.
The Everton gig will definitely come with its own different challenges, but the Blues academy graduate has worked under difficult circumstances at Pride Park since taking over.
The Goodison Park outfit are set to appoint their sixth manager in six years, and they cannot afford to get their next decision wrong.
While Rooney could be perfect for the job, whether the Rams will be keen to let their manager go given their situation at the moment is unknown.
Despite being in administration and starting the campaign with a deficit of 21 points, Rooney has managed to give them hope with their recent form.
They are still with a chance of survival, and letting him leave will all but end that.
However, Rooney knows the opportunity and chance to manage his childhood club might not come anytime soon should he miss out now, and it is why moving to Merseyside will definitely be very tempting.
