Everton want Chelsea defender Malang Sarr on loan

Everton are interested in signing Chelsea defender Malang Sarr in the January transfer window, according to reports from Foot Mercato.

The Blues are not keen to part ways with the 22-year-old defender who has a contract at the club till 2025.

The Toffees mainly want him on loan, but face competition from the likes of West Ham, Newcastle United and Leicester City.

Difficult

Sarr is a very talented defender, although he hasn’t played much for the Blues.

Chelsea are not keen on offloading him as they feel he can fill in at the back when they need him.

On top of that, he has complete inoculation against COVID which makes him a valuable asset given the pandemic situation we’re in.

So, if he is allowed to move on, it will be only on a temporary basis.

With only 11 days left in the transfer window, it looks unlikely that Everton can pull off a deal for him, unless they appoint any permanent manager.

Yerry Mina has struggled for fitness throughout the season and he has barely featured.

However, the Colombian is back in training, and the Toffees probably won’t consider signing another centre-back this month. A fresh strategy will be taken in the summer.

Everton have signed three players already this month. Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko have joined permanently while Anwar El Ghazi has joined from Aston Villa on loan.

In other Everton news, this former Goodison man had a clear reaction to this big move at the club.
