Vitor Pereira to sign four-month contract with Everton with option of extra year
Everton are set to appoint Vitor Pereira as their new manager on an initial four-month-long contract, according to Portuguese reporter Pedro Sepulveda.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Monday [24 January] the SIC Noticias journalist reported that Pereira, 53, will manage the Toffees for the rest of the season but will also have the option of an extra year at Goodison Park.
Sepulveda reported on Sunday [23 January] that Pereira was due to fly into the UK today after an agreement was reached.
Short-term vision
If Everton go ahead with this and the deals of Pereira’s contract are correct – then this is a shambles.
It shows that there’s no long-term plan in place at Goodison Park and Farhad Moshiri is happy to hire whichever managerial mercenary seems to suit his needs at any given time.
Pereira is already a journeyman of a manager and lasted just six months in his last job at Fenerbahce before he was sacked.

And now, he’s supposedly agreeing to take charge of the Toffees for just four months.
It stinks of desperation and really shows that this club has no idea what it’s doing.
Everton’ squad is a mash-up of players signed by different managers and by different directors of football.
We need someone either on the board or in the dugout who we can see as a long-term fit to finally install some consistency in all areas.
We thought Everton were a mess before – it seems like things could be about to get worse.
In other Everton news, the club could be hit by a “devastating” financial blow if this chief walks away amid protests.
