Everton set for more manager talks in next 24 hours, appointment wanted before the weekend – report

Everton are now set for more talks over a new manager in the next 24 hours with Farhad Moshiri backing the idea, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper has reported on their website that senior board members were against the potential appointment of Vitor Pereira, with other options now being explored.

It is suggested that Moshiri is now keen to get an appointment in place before the weekend is finished at Goodison Park.

Everton have entered this small winter break in disarray.

Defeat against Aston Villa last time out leaves the Toffees sitting a couple of places above the bottom three, only four points away.

Moshiri is looking for an appointment before the weekend, which could be smart as it gives the new manager time.

It would give whoever it may be a full week of training before the must-win games against Newcastle and Leeds in the Premier League.

Everton

Whirlwind.

It is suggested that Pereira is still considered the favourite, but surely this step back will open Moshiri’s eyes.

Given that he thought handing the job to Rafa Benitez was a good idea, we wouldn’t be surprised if the owner goes down his own path again and ignores the warnings from other board members around him.

There are positives to waiting and biding your time, but we also understand getting someone through the door and giving them time during this break to get their methods across to the squad early.

Duncan Ferguson is currently taking charge of the squad, and he will be ready for any eventuality at Finch Farm.

Anything could happen in the next 24 hours and up to the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled – here’s hoping it’s a game-changing appointment.
