Jamie Carragher hits back as Everton fans chant about him amid Goodison protest

Ex-Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has jumped to the defence of Bill Kenwright amid protests from Everton fans on Wednesday night.

There has been widespread footage of supporters gathering en masse at Goodison Park to protest against the poor running of the club and also the potential appointment as Vitor Pereira as manager.

Everton chairman Kenwright has been widely criticised and after seeing footage of fans outside Goodison chanting about him while holding banners saying ‘Sack the Board’, Carragher said the anger must be aimed elsewhere.

“Understandable frustration from the fans, but let’s be honest, no one wants to go for Moshiri because he is funding the stadium,” said Carragher via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night.

“Moshiri/Usmanov have made all the mad decisions of the last five years.

“Kenwright’s mistakes were not having enough [money] and picking the wrong billionaire.”

Weird

Carragher is the least of our problems so what’s the point in chanting about him?

Everton’s biggest issue is not Kenwright, for what it’s worth. It is Farhad Moshiri.

But because Moshiri has received financial backing from Alisher Usmanov and has also been guided by Kia Joorabchian in the past, he’s basically being used as a puppet by two massive powerbrokers in football.

Moshiri has, therefore, ignored the likes of Kenwright time and time again and also ignored director of football Marcel Brands.

Who wanted Rafa Benitez?

Who didn’t want Benitez?

It’s so obvious where our issues are but Moshiri simply cannot go because the financial impact of that would catastrophic.

Moshiri has pumped £500million into adding to this squad of players, as well as the countless millions wasted on managers.

There’s another half a billion being spent on the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock so we cannot afford for Moshiri to go.

But we do need to make our voices heard and hopefully that will result in the club being run in a more suitable manner where people who know football make the football decisions.
