Last-ditch Everton switch on the cards for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Everton could be an option for Aaron Ramsey as Juventus aim to get rid of the Welsh midfielder before the transfer deadline on Monday, according to 90min.

The football news website reports that the big-earning 31-year-old is free to leave Juventus this month and he’s been offered to a number of Premier League clubs.

It is understood that Ramsey has been offered to Burnley, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Newcastle while it’s also reported that a last-gasp January move to Everton could also be on the cards for the Wales international now Frank Lampard has been offered the manager’s job at Goodison Park.

Tricky one

Everton definitely need to get a wriggle on if they want to sign any more new players because while Lampard has been offered the job, there’s no guarantee that he will actually be our new manager at this stage.

We’re hoping to hear a bit more on the matter on Sunday so that the two-week search for Rafa Benitez’s successor can be called to a close but also so that the club can do some last-ditch transfer business.

As the transfer window closes on Monday night, Everton will have less than 48 hours to do all of their business and there’s still a fair bit that could be done.

Of course, Financial Fair Play will restrict the club – and that could put paid to any real chance of signing a high-earner like Ramsey – but also we definitely need to add to the midfield.

Lampard, if he accepts the job, will no doubt have some targets in mind and Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek has been mentioned [Sky Sports].

We’d rather have van de Beek but Ramsey’s Premier League experience makes him a great option too.

It’s just his wages and how much they’d likely set the club back to pay.

In other Everton news, the Whites are in last-gasp talks to seal a major signing that may cost them £108,000-a-week.
