Donny van de Beek to sign for Everton on deadline day, Fabrizio Romano update

Donny van de Beek’s transfer to Everton will be announced on deadline day, with documents exchanged on the deal, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist has also shared the details of the move and new manager Frank Lampard’s key role in completing the deal with a phone call to the player.

The ex-Chelsea manager has reportedly just signed a two-and-a-half year deal to take the top job at Goodison, with various journalists reporting the news on Twitter on Sunday evening.

Writing on his Twitter account, Romano says: “Manchester United and Everton have exchanged documents for Donny van de Beek transfer. Donny will sign on Monday morning – deal likely to be announced on #DeadlineDay.

“Lampard call was key to complete van de Beek’s move to Everton. 100% of salary + loan fee to United.”

This move could be a game-changer for both the club and the player.

A highly-rated member of the Ajax side that came within seconds of the Champions League final in 2019, he then scored against both Tottenham and Chelsea in the subsequent European campaign.

But following a big-money move to Manchester United he has been inexplicably absent from the team under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Lampard has seen an opportunity to get hold of an important player who should be raring to show what he can do on the football pitch again.

He will have the added incentive of proving to his parent club that they were wrong to have him buried on the bench at Old Trafford.

It looks like the new manager also made the difference in that it was reported that the Dutchman was headed to Crystal Palace (Sky Sports), so the influence of the Stamford Bridge legend has already come to the fore.

As long as his confidence has not been hit too badly by his experience in Manchester, Everton should have added a real player which should delight fans.

In other Everton news, the new manager reportedly wants another midfield addition.
