Everton agree £500k loan fee for Donny van de Beek

Everton are close to signing Donny van de Beek on loan until the end of the season with a loan fee of £500,000 agreed for the Dutchman, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has been starved of football at Manchester United since he joined the club in 2020 and they have now agreed to let him go, but only temporarily.

Along with the loan fee of £500,000, Everton will also pay all of van de Beek’s wages during his time at Goodison Park.

It had looked like Crystal Palace were going to land the 24-year-old but the Toffees have swooped in to make him what would be Frank Lampard’s first signing, assuming he does sign the contract that is reportedly on the table.

There are some very talented players at Everton but van de Beek is at his best is on another level entirely.

He showed during his time at Ajax how he is able to completely control a game against the very best as he led the Dutch side to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

His £40million move to Old Trafford hasn’t materialised how he would have hooped but Goodison Park might be the perfect place for him.

Expect him to slot into an attacking midfield position although he could also come in to play a more orthodox central midfield role depending on how Lampard would set up, again, if he agrees to manage the team.

With Abdoulaye Doucoure out injured, numbers are light in the middle of the Toffees’ side so the signing of van de Beek is a crucial one for the team’s fight against relegation.

With a layer of his quality in the team, Everton should be nowhere near the drop by the end of the season.

In other Everton news, this English midfielder could be another option for Lampard to go alongside van de Beek.
