Gilmour signing ‘almost certain’ if Lampard joins Everton – reliable journo
Everton look set to announce Frank Lampard as their new manager very soon and he could go to Chelsea for his first summer signing.
20-year-old Billy Gilmour is currently on loan at Norwich City but he hasn’t lit up the league as he has done in his limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
Transfer insider Dean Jones believes that Lampard’s influence at the Blues may see him convince the young Scot to join him at Goodison Park.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones said: “If Frank Lampard ends up at Everton, then Billy Gilmour will end up an Everton player by next season. I’m almost certain of that.”
The decision will still come down to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel though who may want Gilmour in his first-team squad next season depending on who leaves West London in the summer.
The dictator
If Gilmour is playing at his best, he is often the best player on the pitch and controls the entire game from his deep-lying midfield role.

He is more than confident receiving the ball under pressure in any area of the pitch and his incredible agility and low centre of gravity allows him to turn on a sixpence.
He is the exact midfielder Lampard likes to have at the base of his midfield as it would allow the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure to be more adventurous in their forward runs with the insurance behind them.
Control of the game is something that the Toffees have lacked all season with Doucoure and Allan more combative than technical by nature.
Gilmour, therefore, is the player Everton need but there is no guarantee he’ll arrive on Merseyside with Lampard.
In other Everton news, documents have been exchanged between the Toffees and another Premier League club over a late loan deal.
