Sky Sports journalist moots Duncan Ferguson exit from Everton while stood outside Finch Farm

Sky Sports journalist Vinny O’Connor suggests Duncan Ferguson’s future at Everton could be up in the air amid the imminent appointment as Frank Lampard as manager.

Lampard, Ferguson and Vitor Pereira were interviewed by the Blues on Friday and it seems the former Chelsea and Derby manager has won the job.

O’Connor reports that Lampard could sign a contract at Everton today (30 January) but his arrival may spell the end of Ferguson’s time on the coaching staff at Goodison Park.

“What this means for him now, as I say, we’ll have to see,” said O’Connor while standing outside Finch Farm in a video clip on Sky Sports’ website.

“Maybe the best thing for Duncan Ferguson could be a move away from Everton to then further his coaching career. But we’ll have to see exactly what Frank Lampard wants as regards to his backroom set-up.”

Good luck, Dunc

If Ferguson does go, it will be a great shame.

He feels like he’s part of the furniture at Goodison Park but he’s been overlooked for the manager’s job on more than one occasion now and it could be time for him to fly from the nest.

There are bound to be jobs appearing elsewhere for Ferguson to take up if he wants to pursue a career in management.

The ex-Scotland forward showed in his last interim spell in charge of the Toffees that he can be a good boss and you just know that he will not take any slacking from any players.

If your team needs to be kicked into gear, Big Dunc could be your man.

However, we would like him to stay on at Goodison Park and be a part of Lampard’s coaching team. But for Ferguson, it may feel a bit insulting for him to work for the man who he went up against for a job.

It remains to be seen how Lampard will get on at Goodison but for this season, we just pray that he leads us to Premier League safety.

In other Everton news, this player has opted to join the Blues.
