Everton player exit could still happen before transfer deadline – Alan Myers
Alan Myers has suggested that a player could be on their way out of Everton before the 11pm transfer deadline tonight (31 January).
Writing via his personal Twitter account at 06:48pm, the Sky Sports journalist mooted the possibility of a “departure” from Goodison Park before the January transfer window slams shut.
Everton have already appointed Frank Lampard as their manager and signed Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United today.
Don’t go to bed yet
We only get two days like this a year and we cannot remember a club ever hiring a new manager on deadline day and also signing one or two players.
Van de Beek has been confirmed as an Evertonian for the rest of the season while Dele Alli looks as though he could be on his way to Goodison Park from Tottenham – although The Athletic say Newcastle are making a late bid to beat us to that signing.
Still, we’re confident that a deal can still be done for the Tottenham midfielder so a day that sees Lampard, van de Beek and Alli all arrive on the blue side of Merseyside should always be seen as a good day.

However, it’ll be interesting to see who this potential departure is.
When you look at the squad, there are a few fringe players like Cenk Tosun, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Jonjoe Kenny come to mind while star players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin have also been linked with other clubs.
As long as it’s not a key player, we don’t mind who goes. And there are also some of Rafa Benitez’s favourites from this season who we’d be happy to see the back of too.
Andre Gomes, Salomon Rondon and Alex Iwobi wouldn’t be missed at all.
In other Everton news, after van de Beek’s arrival, another medical at Goodison is underway.
