How Tottenham felt about Dele Alli moving to Everton

Dele Alli secured a late move to Everton on the transfer deadline day from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal.

The England international signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Toffees.

According to reports from The Telegraph, there was a “genuine disbelief” in the Tottenham camp that Antonio Conte had managed to convince Daniel Levy to allow Alli to leave.

Let’s see type deal

Alli joined the club with no initial fee involved in the deal.

Everton will pay £10m once he makes 20 appearances, while the deal could reach a sum of £40m (The Mirror), if all the clauses are taken into account.

Everton also signed Donny van de Beek on the transfer deadline day on loan from Manchester United.

Both the players had struggled for games for their respective clubs, and the move gives them a fresh start to their careers.

This is precisely where Lampard will be looking to tap in – get the best out of them and reignite the hunger in them to shine.

Alli was seen as a player who could reach great heights under Mauricio Pochettino, but he has regressed in the last 18 months.

There’s one theory that he would struggle to recapture his old form, but given his age and quality such assumptions are premature.

Under a manager who would trust him again, Alli can add tremendous depth and quality to the side if he can rediscover the form.

Meanwhile, Alli is cup-tied in the FA Cup and he can only make his debut against Newcastle on February 8th at the earliest.
