Everton is perfect stage for Donny Van de Beek – Kevin Campbell

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton is the perfect stage for Manchester United loanee, Donny Van de Beek, to prove himself.

The ex-Toffees talisman believes it is impossible to judge the Dutchman from his time at Old Trafford, but admitted he was “unbelievable” at Ajax.

Frank Lampard moved quickly to strengthen his midfield on deadline day, with Van de Beek being joined by Dele Alli through the doors.

“Midfield, I think, is key,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“You could say he’s never done well, but he’s never had the chance, never had the opportunity.

“So, I think it’s a bit unfair to kind of judge him because he hasn’t played three games back-to-back at Manchester United, maybe not even two.

“Again, I can only look at that young side at Ajax, and the way he played, he was unbelievable. Obviously, he’s got something to prove now, Frank Lampard see shim and thinks he can utilise him, brought him in and what a great stage for Donny Van de Beek to show what he can do.”

This appears to be a match made in heaven, then, based on Campbell’s glowing verdict, and it is easy to see why.

Van de Beek will be desperate for football and admitted that after a long meeting with Lampard, it was an easy decision to make the move.

The Dutch international shined at Ajax, and that is the type of form he will be trying to rediscover at Goodison Park this season.

Let’s hope for a positive outcome between now and the end of the campaign.
