Everton ace Dele Alli destroyed by Chris Sutton for ‘sloppy’ debut
Chris Sutton has slammed ‘sloppy’ Dele Alli for his second half performance during his Everton debut.
Alli was brought on earlier than anticipated following an injury to winger Demarai Gray.
The 25-year-old gave possession away top easily which led to Newcastle United taking a 2-1 lead over the Blues.

“How sloppy was Dele Alli?” Sutton said on BT Sport 2.
“He gave the ball away. You look at his recovery run, not good enough.”
Give him time
You have to feel for Alli. This is a hugely tough game in normal circumstances, never mind when you have just joined a club with all odds seemingly stacked against you.
He was brought on to replace Gray, but the pair are hardly like for like changes which left the new boy struggling out on the left.

However, his response to his shocking mistake is exactly what the Toffees fans will want to see.
He didn’t let it affect his performance and tirelessly tried to make things work in the Blues’ attack.
The former Tottenham man showed his talent on the ball which is only going to get better the more he blows off the cobwebs at Finch Farm having not played consistently for a long time.
The more he works with Lampard, the coaching staff and his fellow teammates at Everton the better he will get.
Let’s just hope his mistake doesn’t knock his confidence before he truly gets going at the club.
