Ben Foster calls Everton fans ‘horrible’ for treatment of their players
Ben Foster has said that the Everton fans are horrible to their players based on his experiences at Goodison Park.
The former England international revealed that travelling teams look to impose a quick start against the Blues to sour the atmosphere in the stadium.
Speaking on his podcast, The Fozcast, Foster revealed the fans have a negative impact on the players.
“One thing I will say though if you can get on top of Everton early doors, the Everton fans are horrible to the Everton players,” he said.
“They are horrible, they get right on top of them. For sure they get in the players’ heads, for sure.”
When asked how it can help the opposition, he said: “That’s massive,
“That’s what we say before the game, ‘Right lads, we need to start fast, we need to get on top of them.'”
Enough is enough
The Toffees fans are absolutely brilliant, some of the best in the world on their day but unfortunately it hasn’t been that day for quite some time.
The circus of a club that has been unfolding before the fan’s eyes for the past few years has brought a very toxic atmosphere with.
Things haven’t been good enough for a while and the sour atmosphere is completely justified but there comes a time where change is needed and there is no better time than now.
The Blues now have Frank Lampard in charge and there is a positive feeling around the club and the supporters have to add to that rather than tear the players down.
They are facing a tough enough season as it is, and they need dragging to the finish line with Premier League relegation looking more real than ever.
Lampard is hopefully here for the long run and unlike previous managers he has Everton’s best interest at heart and will make sure every single one of his players is completely on board with the process.
It is about time the fans get on board and the club put this embarrassing saga behind them as they look to get back to the top of English football, where the Toffees belong.
