Frank Lampard drools over Everton young talent Anthony Gordon

Frank Lampard has showered praise on Everton talent Anthony Gordon ahead of the Premier League clash against Leeds United.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder was arguably the best player on the pitch for the Toffees against Newcastle United in the previous game.

The young talent is making a serious impact this season, and Lampard says he has impressed him heavily in training.

Everton

Lampard said, as quoted by Liverpool Echo: “I’ve been really impressed. From afar he looks a very talented young player who clearly has a strong connection with the fans.

“But from working with him he’s a really good lad, he wants to train every day and learn. He’s a top young player.”

Bright future

The youngster is one of the big positives for the Toffees this season in an otherwise bleak campaign so far.

Last month, Gordon revealed in an interview with Liverpool Echo that Benitez has improved him as a player. It seems, he is bubbling with confidence at the moment, and it is reflected in his game.

Gordon produced arguably his best performance of the season in the 3-2 defeat against Brighton where he scored twice in the Premier League clash.

The young winger had cut a frustrating figure under Carlo Ancelotti but he has made quite an impact, first under Benitez, and now under Lampard.

Everton

The former great England midfielder has grown a reputation of giving opportunities to young players at the club. He did the same at Chelsea.

Young players at Everton like Gordon, Lewis Dobbin, and Nathan Patterson can expect to get more opportunities going forward this season.

Everton will need much more from the players this afternoon, with Leeds bound to be a very tough assignment.

In other Everton news, four changes and two players could be axed in for the game against Leeds in our predicted line-up.
