Anthony Gordon raves about Donny van de Beek after Everton thrash Leeds United
Donny van de Beek has made a major impression at Everton already, performing excellently in his first start and drawing a rave review from Anthony Gordon.
The on-loan Manchester United midfielder started alongside Brazilian Allan for the first time at Goodison Park on Saturday as Frank Lampard’s side dispatched Leeds United with ease, running out 3-0 winners.
It lifted the mood around the club significantly to win so comfortably against a direct rival, having fallen to a weak defeat at Newcastle during the week.

And young winger Gordon who was credited with the third goal has hailed the impact of his new Dutch teammate.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, via the Manchester Evening News, Gordon said: “Amazing performance. I love Donny. I love the intensity he brings to the team.
“He started with Allan with a two in midfield and that’s difficult to get around the pitch.
“I thought they did amazing.”
New star man
It has already become clear why one of the new manager’s first moves was to highjack the former Ajax man’s proposed move to Crystal Palace.
His performance at Goodison on Saturday was fantastic and only raises more questions as to why he has been left to languish on the bench at Old Trafford since his £40million move 18 months ago.
The midfielder made his debut after an hour at St James Park on Tuesday with the team already losing, and was unable to affect the performance hugely.

But that, along with the entire team, was a different story at the weekend, as the vibrant display that saw the Toffees defeat Brentford in the FA Cup in Lampard’s first game returned.
There is not a great deal of time for the former Chelsea boss to settle on his best side so the quicker certain players can make those decisions for him with their showings on the pitch the better.
It would seem impossible for the 24-year-old to be dropped for the trip to Southampton next weekend, and another run out similar to the one against Leeds would likely cement his place in the team for the foreseeable future.
In other Everton news, Danny Murphy said this player’s role in the win was the “icing on the cake” for Lampard’s plans.
