Gary Neville makes Everton prediction in relegation battle
Gary Neville believes Everton will still be playing Premier League football next season after their 3-0 win over Leeds at the weekend.
The Toffees turned in their best performance of the season thanks to goals from Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon as Lampard closed the gap on the Whites to just one point.
After the performance, Gary Neville spoke about the relegation battle on his Sky Sports podcast and predicted that Frank Lampard’s side will survive the drop.

“I think Everton will get out of it,” he said.
“I think that Leeds could get dragged in. Brentford I’d be a little bit worried about because they’ve played more games haven’t they. I do feel that Newcastle team, that performance, isn’t going down.
“So for me, yes, there’s no doubt that one or two of those, sides Leeds and Brentford in particular, could get dragged back into it.”
Quality
The one thing Everton have in abundance over the rest of the teams involved in the relegation scrap is quality throughout the squad.
The team this season has massively underperformed, but they also suffered with injuries badly during Rafa Benitez’s tenure.

They’re now getting key players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit again, while the additions of Donny Van de Beek and Dele Alli in January only added to the quality they already had.
Lampard has been tasked with strengthening the defence to stop leaking goals because this team is more than capable of finding the back of the net regularly if they play even remotely well.
Neville’s comments are likely shared by many, but Everton can’t afford to have that mentality or they risk getting complacent and dragging the race on for longer than they need to.
