Everton ace Jonjoe Kenny hails Frank Lampard impact

Jonjoe Kenny has been full of praise for new Everton manager Frank Lampard and the positive impact he and his staff have had at Finch Farm.

The Kirkdale born player was instrumental in his start in the Blues’ 3-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday (February 12).

Kenny is among several players to have a lift in performance levels since the arrival of Lampard, as reflected by the right-back.

“The boss has been different class, even after the result didn’t go our way against Newcastle, the way we bounced back is a credit to him and the staff,”  Kenny told Everton.

“They have been a breath of fresh air for us. He has given me a lot of confidence.”

He added: “I really want to do as well as I can for the manager and staff because they’ve put a lot of belief in me.

“I think I can speak on behalf of everyone in the team, they have brought a lot of belief back into the players – and I think it is showing.

“It is only two weeks, but you can feel and see the difference in the lads.”

New era

As anticipated with whoever took the reign after Rafa Benitez, the mood around the camp has been so much better.

The players, the fans, even Lampard himself look to have a newfound buzz about them, a smidgen of hope that has been non-existent for a very long time.

Hearing all of the players come out and speak about the positive impact the former Chelsea midfielder and has carefully selected staff are having at Finch Farm is very exciting but the Toffees can’t afford to get too carried away.

Everything looks good at the moment, as it did at this stage under Benitez and all of the other managers, but this energy needs to be maintained and it most likely will.

Lampard is coming here at the start of his career looking to make a name for himself. He is renowned for his man-management skills and possesses all of the key qualities a modern coach needs having not long been a player himself. Not like the old donkey’s that came before.
