Harry Redknapp praises Everton duo Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon

Harry Redknapp has heaped praise on Everton duo Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon, labelling them ‘immense’ and an ‘extremely exciting prospect’.

The Toffees earned a 3-0 win over Leeds at the weekend to move away from the relegation zone, with both players getting on the scoresheet alongside captain Seamus Coleman.

Redknapp is manager Frank Lampard’s uncle and paid extra attention to the game, choosing to single out the duo for their performances while naming them in his BetVictor team of the week.

“It was great to see Frank Lampard get off the mark at Goodison,” he said. “He couldn’t have asked for a better team performance.

“I thought Michael Keane was immense at the back, and topping it off with a goal will do him no harm at all.

“It’s great to see Anthony Gordon doing so well at Everton. What about that delivery for Keane’s goal? Straight out of the top drawer.

“He showed some promise under Rafa [Benitez], so hopefully, he can keep progressing under his new gaffer. An extremely exciting prospect, that’s for sure.”

Exciting times

Everton aren’t out of the woods yet in terms of relegation but their future certainly looks bright under Lampard after just three games.

The defeat to Newcastle wasn’t great but even then there was an improvement from the previous regime, but the wins have been excellent against both Brentford in the cup and Leeds in the league.

With Gordon seemingly making himself undroppable currently with his great performances, praise from Redknapp is a huge compliment.

This is the man who oversaw the progression of the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Lampard, Joe Cole and Jermain Defoe at West Ham during his career so he knows a top talent when he sees one.

Everton are building for the future while battling for survival, but if it all works out then they have got a great base to continue to build from for next season.
