Everton boss Frank Lampard hails Jonjoe Kenny for Leeds Utd celebration

Everton manager Frank Lampard has called Jonjoe Kenny’s celebration ‘absolute gold’ in the Blues 3-0 victory against Leeds United.

The boyhood Toffees fan more than understood the importance of a win against their relegation as he shown with not only his performance but his goading of an electric Goodison Park.

Lampard claimed having local lads in the squad who truly understands the club and that the fans can relate to is a huge boost.

“That’s absolute gold [his celebration] and the fans will relate to that.” Lampard said in his pre-Southampton press conference.

“I don’t want to make him just a local lad with a big heart, he’s a very good player. When you’ve got lads like that in the group, they help.”

Scouser

Kenny has really struggled throughout his Everton career. He has been out on loan several times and has never really found a proper place within the team/ squad at the age of 24 which for a long time suggested he isn’t good enough.

Much like several other players, the arrival of Lampard at Finch Farm has seen the Kirkdale born player make almost a complete U-turn in his Blues career.

He snatched his first opportunity to shine under the new boss with his scintillating performance in Everton’s 3-0 win over Leeds last time out and will undoubtedly look to build on that.

Kenny is a player who really understands the values of the club and can really resonate with the fans. Having a scouser in the team gives the fans and the players a huge boost.

He needs to build on this momentum because it would be some story if the defender went from almost zero to hero under Lampard.
