Everton fans will love Richarlison’s Champions League verdict
Everton might not be in the Champions League this season, but that hasn’t stopped star player Richarlison from having his say on this season’s competition.
The 24-year-old has endeared himself to the Goodison Park faithful since he joined from Watford in 2018 and he might have gone up another level again in their admirations.
In an interview with TNT Sports, the Brazilian was asked if there was a team he would rather not win the Champions League this season and Toffees around the world will love his answer.
“From here in England, I would prefer Liverpool not to win. Because, like it or not, it’s like you said, it’s a rival and we don’t want the guys to win,” Richarlison said.
“Because there’s banter, total banter, Liverpool fans go on social media to make fun of us. So, if I had to choose, I would choose Liverpool not to win.”
Proper Evertonian
As if anyone needed confirmation of Richarlison’s commitment to the football club, he has certainly provided it.
Every Everton supporter has the same mindset when it comes to success for their rivals but it is encouraging to see the same mentality coming through with a player who didn’t support the club growing up.

The 24-year-old is rightly a fan favourite at Goodison Park and this is a big reason as to why.
He has embraced the Liverpudlian people, who wear blue, since his arrival five years ago and the city has welcomed him in return.
Frank Lampard now needs to get that mentality across the rest of his playing squad to start the climb away from relegation problems and towards challenging their city rivals again.
The next Merseyside derby will certainly have that bit of added bite at Anfield on 23 April.
In other Everton news, this star midfielder is in talks to switch international allegiances ahead of World Cup qualifiers next month.
