Frank Lampard shares injury update on five Everton first-teamers
Frank Lampard has confirmed four more Everton players will miss the weekend trip to Southampton alongside Demarai Gray.
But the former England midfielder has admitted he will be with at least five players for the game, although he admitted that he expects the players named to be back soon as they are ‘getting closer’ to fitness.
All of Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph, and Abdoulaye Doucoure are ruled out, but left-back Vitalii Mykolenko is back in the squad.

“Ben Godfrey is getting closer, and hopefully, he’s on schedule at least, which means maybe 2-3 weeks and Fabian Delph is similar. Yerry Mina is a bit longer; he’s just starting the process.
“Vitaloo Mykolenko is back. Gray won’t quite make it this weekend; we’re hopeful for the following week. Doucoure trained with us today in his first kind of integration into a proper session. So hopefully, over the next week, we can see a strong progression.”
Positive
After a long season full of plenty of injury problems, it’s about time Everton got some good news on that front.
The Toffees have struggled this season with the fitness of key players, but it seems as though Lampard took charge at the perfect time with players coming back.

There have been issues since he arrived, with Godfrey and Mina picking up muscle injuries, but the progress they’re making is always a positive and with others returning they’re finally strong and have depth.
The level of quality in their squad should be enough to see them get out of their relegation troubles, so long as they maintain the level of performance from last week’s win over Leeds.
Lampard will have options to choose from which as a manager is only ever a good thing, so Everton are in a good place ahead of this game.
