Everton boss Frank Lampard shares Richarlison dressing room misfortune

Richarlison has been the brunt of the jokes in the Everton dressing room after his goal against Leeds United was taken away from him.

The Brazilian thought he had put the Blues 3-0 up at Goodison Park last week, but the ball was awarded to winger Anthony Gordon following the slightest of deflections.

Lampard hopes the forward can continue his fine form in front of goal as he looks to turn the Toffees season around.

“He’s a very popular character in the dressing room and there were a lot of laughs, at his expense unfortunately, because he’s a goalscorer.” The boss told ECHO.

“He’s hungry for goals, as he should be, and the players were complimenting him on what a fantastic assist he’d made in the game.

“He’s got quite a dry face, it’s hard to read at times, but hopefully I’ll start to read it more and more as we go.

“It was a nice moment really, he took it well, and I hope he gets his fair share going forward.”

Plenty more to come

It might not be officially counted in the end of season goal tally but there is no doubt that Richarlison will be claiming that goal as his own and rightly so.

Gordon had no idea what he was doing as the bell brushed him and flew into the bottom corner so the 24-year-old will feel hard done by.

With that being said, the Blues won, and he played very well so the decision to award the goal to his teammate wouldn’t have fazed him too much.

He has also been in good form since making his comeback from Injury last month so it’s not like he is desperate for a goal.

Lampard understands Richarlison’s importance to this Everton team with his comments on the forward.

The former Chelsea boss has spoken very highly of the dry faced South American and has acknowledged the importance of building a good relationship with his player in order to get the best out of him.

Much like all of the players, Richarlison has a real chance of taking his game to the next level under Lampard and if the pair work well together they will be a formidable team.
