Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin lifts lid on ‘soul destroying’ season
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has lifted the lid on a “soul destroying” season suffered at Everton during this campaign.
The England striker has only played eight Premier League games this term, scoring three goals thanks to a recurring calf injury.
However, the 24-year-old has admitted he feels a lot better as he looks to work his way back to full fitness under new boss Frank Lampard.

“The injury was so frustrating because I started the season so well and I was in a good moment,” Calvert-Lewin told evertontv.
“To re-injure the same leg three times, it was soul-destroying at points, and it takes you to the depths of a mental battle.
“It’s difficult seeing the boys play and you feel so far away. I’d feel close to coming back and then I was sidelined again.
“You have to dig deep and show courage and character. I feel I’m now a stronger person and a stronger player and off the back of that I’ll return to a top level.
“I’ve been training consistently for a couple of weeks. Now, I feel physically a lot better and much more confident in my body.”

Patience
You can only imagine how hard it has been for Calvert-Lewin, barely playing at all this season especially when the team needs him the most.
It has been equally hard from a fans perspective every time you think the talisman is going to give the team a much-needed boost, he faces a setback.
Hopefully that will just add to the fire in his belly as he still works his way back to his best.
The impact he has on the team is clear to see when he plays, Everton haven’t got a player like him.
He has brilliant ability in front of goal which has been greatly missed but the former Sheffield United player offers a brilliant outlet and can hold the ball up and link up with attackers.
Once Lampard stamps his mark on this team, Calvert-Lewin is going to start producing serious numbers.
For now, everyone needs to be patient with the forward who is still finding his feet in the team again.
In other Everton news, James Rodriguez has admitted he wanted to stay at club for ‘much longer’.
