Fabrizio Romano shares new details on imminent Jean-Philippe Gbamin Everton exit

Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is close to joining CSKA Moscow on loan for the rest of the season with no option to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Ivory Coast midfielder is set to bring to an end his horror spell at Goodison Park before Russia’s transfer deadline on February 22nd, with 13-time champions ‘closing’ on a deal.

But according to Romano the deal will be a straight swap with no option to buy and the club are just waiting for the final details before approving the transfer.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano said:

“CSKA Moscow are closing on loan deal for Jean-Philippe Gbamin from Everton. Agreement at final stages on salary coverage.

“Everton Loan deal won’t include any buy option. Everton are waiting for final details to approve the move.”

Finally

It’s been a long time coming that Gbamin needed to leave Goodison Park so it’s a great thing that he’s been able to find a club.

Lampard played his hand following the defeat to Southampton by listing his central midfield players and leaving Gbamin out of the names mentioned, despite him being fit and available.

Everton

After a £25m move back in 2019, expectations were high that the young international would be able to make a big impact on the team in a problem area.

But unfortunately for him and Everton, several serious injuries have restricted him to just eight appearances for the Toffees and he’s failed to impress in any of them.

The club have moved on from the player and recruited without him in mind and it’s now time for him to get a new environment to try and relaunch his career. This is a rare move that suits everyone.
