Jean-Philippe Gbamin says Everton teammate helped him leave on loan

Jean-Philippe Gbamin has revealed that he spoke to Everton teammate Salomon Rondon ahead of his move away from the club.

The midfielder has joined Russian outfit CSKA Moscow on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Gbamin will have his eyes set on proving himself to reignite his Goodison Park career after only appearing for the Toffees eight times since joining in 2018.

“At Everton, I asked Salomon Rondon about the city, about the people who play and work for CSKA,” he told Soccer RU.

“He gave the most positive response about Moscow, the club and the fans who passionately support the team and said that I would like everything a lot.”

Good riddance

One thing is for sure, Gbamin won’t be missed. The midfielder has barely played at all since joining the club, averaging two games per season which is shocking.

His Everton career has been over for a long time and that has now been confirmed with the loan move.

Everyone knows the extent of the midfield problems this squad faces and letting Gbamin go shows he has no room in Lampard’s plans even with the former Chelsea boss desperate for options.

This was yet another shocking piece of business by Marcel Brands, tying an unproven player down to a long, well paid contract at the club.

What a waste – not only of his talent but Everton’s money.

Hopefully he fairs to life in Russia well and gradually returns to the player he once was when earning his move to the Premier League.

At least then the Blues might be able to get some money back for the flop.
