Franck Kessie ‘not convinced’ by Everton offer – report

Everton want to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie on a free transfer this summer, but face a battle with Barcelona, according to Sport.

The Ivory Coast star has spent five years with the Italian giants but with his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, he has told them he won’t be renewing his deal.

That has opened the door for several clubs to make a move to bring him in on a free transfer, with Sport claiming that it’s Barcelona who lead the race for his signature.

According to the Spanish outlet, both Everton and Arsenal have made offers to the 25-year-old but those offers ‘have not convinced him’ and he wants a move to the Camp Nou.

But Everton haven’t given up hope of signing him and are retaining an interest, knowing that he wants to seal his future move as soon as possible.

Powerhouse

Everton’s weakest area on the pitch was their midfield before Frank Lampard joined the club in January, bringing Donny Van de Beek and Dele Alli with him.

The Dutch playmaker is only on loan from Manchester United though and you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Dele had made the move, so additions are still needed.

Everton

Kessie is a box-to-box, athletic midfielder with a good eye for a pass and a knack for scoring goals too despite usually playing in a deeper role.

His strengths are exactly what the squad are missing and the deal would be a statement of intent from the club who really need a pick-me-up if they are to avoid relegation and build for the new season.

It’s a long shot as it stands, because Barcelona are on their way back to being a dominant force and that is seemingly his preference, but never say never when the Toffees are involved.
