Andros Townsend raves about Everton striker Salomon Rondon

Andros Townsend has showered heaps of praise on Everton striker Salomon Rondon after his brilliant performance against Boreham Wood.

The Toffees found it hard to break Boreham’s resilience but two second-half goals from Rondon earned a 2-0 victory.

As a result of the win, Frank Lampard’s side has booked a place in the last eight of the FA Cup, where Rondon took his tally to three goals this term.

Townsend said after the game that Rondon “gives his all” in training and praised his qualities against Boreham.

The winger told Evertonfc.com: “Anyone who has played with Salomon for six months and trained with him on a daily basis knows he always gives his all.

“He’s fought for every ball, he’s attacked every ball, he’s pressed every ball and he’s been a credit to himself.

“Maybe he’s not had the credit on the outside because of his goalscoring tally, but we fully appreciate him and we know that when he’s playing, we’ve got a good outlet – and he proved that tonight.

“Whenever he gets the opportunity again, hopefully he can keep slotting them away.”

Confidence

It was a strong performance from the experienced striker.

Rondon joined in the summer transfer window on a free transfer, signed by Rafa Benitez.

He found it tough to get going, even when Dominic Calvert-Lewin got injured.

He scored the first goal with a poacher instinctive finish shortly before the hour mark.

Rondon headed home from Andros Townsend’s cross six minutes from time to secure a much-needed victory.

The goals will do a world of good for him. While he is not expected to play regularly, Frank Lampard will want him to make significant contributions going forward till the end of the season.

He can establish himself as an impact-sub but most importantly, Lampard can count on him to deliver. He will have more faith in him.

Everton should look to build the momentum from here on and start winning some games in the league.
