Stan Collymore unloads on Everton despite FA Cup win v Boreham Wood

Stan Collymore has unloaded on Everton despite their FA Cup win over Boreham Wood on Thursday evening.

The Toffees breezed past the non-league side 2-0, but it was a real hard watch at Goodison Park for everyone involved.

Collymore couldn’t believe that Everton players were taking three or four touches rather than playing one and two touch football.

Writing on his personal Twitter account during the clash last night, Collymore was not impressed.

“Never understand how many pros have three or four touches against lower-ranked opposition,” he wrote.

“The whole point is that elite players think quicker and the ball quicker which is a huge advantage. Slow tempo and too many touches almost guarantees parity”

Poor.

That first half was very hard to watch.

Frank Lampard will not be happy with the performance despite getting over the line, but wins are all that count at this moment in time.

Everton are desperate for wins no matter how they come, and we could do with a similar outcome sooner rather than later in the Premier League.

Of course, it was a changed side, but there were still many of the big first-team names that will be used in the league games too.

Boreham Wood tried to make it hard, which they did, and it was too scrappy goals that saw us through.

This has to be forgotten about quickly though, and the quality has to rise ten-fold before the trip to Spurs on Monday.
