View: Everton midfielder Donny van de Beek could be on way out of club

Everton midfielder Donny van de Beek is likely to return to Manchester United in the summer should they appoint Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils are considering appointing the Dutchman at Old Trafford, according to the Express.

The 24-year-old joined United under unfortunate circumstances with their transfer strategy making it impossible for him to make his mark at the club.

He was crowded out in midfield which led to very little game time for the 24-year-old.

Then manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, barely knew how to utilise his best players which left the maestro with no chance.

However, if United do appoint the Ajax boss, he would likely bring van de Beek back to the club having worked together, very successfully, back in Holland.

Please no

Van de Beek is a great player who in all honesty, Everton are lucky to have.

The Blues don’t get many players of his calibre and it would be a real shame if he returns back to his parent club before he even really gets the chance to make his mark on Merseyside.

He is a Champions League semi-finalist which isn’t exactly breathtaking but if you consider the age of him at the time as well as the Ajax team he did it with as well as the giants they beat en-route, it is slightly more impressive.

Frank Lampard will be keen to keep hold of him with his midfield quality clearly suiting the new boss’ expansive style of football.

It would be a huge coup if the Toffees can keep hold of the Dutch international but if ten Hag is appointed, it is very unlikely.

Hopefully, he falls in love with Merseyside and never wants to return to Manchester.

In other Everton news, Frank Lampard says he loves working with Jordan Pickford.
