Kevin Campbell reacts to Mike Riley apology to Everton and Frank Lampard
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Mike Riley’s apology will have meant nothing to Frank Lampard and Everton this week.
The ex-Toffees talisman was left fuming with two ridiculous handball decisions going unnoticed against Southampton and Manchester City.

“The problem is, these officials and VAR are there to get these things right,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“You get a couple of decisions, that could change your season, I know Everton in the end lost, but these decisions make a difference. It’s been taken away, an apology is just a waste of time.
“I don’t want your apology, I just want consistency. If it going to happen in four games in the Premier League, it should be four penalties, not two or three, it doesn’t make sense.”

Campbell is spot on.
The apology meant nothing, and it certainly didn’t magically give Everton the point they so desperately deserved against City.
Officials and VAR are getting worst by the week, and if something isn’t done soon, clubs will start to come together to urge change.
Everything in place means that apologies should never have to happen, with the PGMOL simply left red-faced yet again.
