Journalist blasts Seamus Coleman for performance in Everton loss v Tottenham
Everton captain Seamus Coleman should consider retirement after his performance in the 5-0 defeat to Tottenham, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.
Coleman had a torrid time against Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski as the Toffees found themselves 3-0 down before half-time in another woeful performance away from home.
Commenting on Twitter, Taylor suggested that Coleman was ‘vastly approaching Gary Neville West Brom territory’ with his performance, suggesting he may need to consider retirement.

The performance Taylor is mentioning was when Neville was so bad against the Baggies that he walked into Sir Alex Ferguson’s office the next day and officially retired from the professional game.
It may be harsh on Coleman, but the Blues have conceded 46 goals this season and have the lowest tally of points at this stage in a season in their Premier League history.
Shots fired
There always has to be a scapegoat when teams get battered and on this occasion there are several, but it seems Coleman has taken the brunt of it.
The Irish international is certainly past his best form, but he still offers enough on the pitch to be around and play games.

It does seem as though his role as an automatic starter may need to be altered however, especially with the club having already signed Nathan Patterson as a potential replacement for the future.
With the club in dire need of points and a change in fortunes, maybe bringing in fresh blood to the team is something that they need to look at doing instead of using the same faces and expecting new results.
Coleman is 33 now and his career is entering it’s twilight, but retirement is just a bit of an exaggeration right now. He still has something to offer.
