Kevin Campbell reacts to Everton collapse at Tottenham
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell believes Everton’s dreadful away form is a mental issue after the terrible 5-0 defeat at Tottenham on Monday night (7 March).
A Michael Keane own goal and a mistake from Jordan Pickford put the hosts easily ahead, and the Toffees capitulated from there, infuriating the ex-Everton striker.
The team are in serious danger of relegation and Campbell expects major changes in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “Everton’s away form has been nothing short of disgraceful, so when you’re performing like that – you’ve got no wins – you’re going to struggle.
“You’re hoping that after some of their performances at home, with Frank Lampard in, the away form could change, but it hasn’t because the players haven’t been performing.
“You can say they’re not good enough, but they’re good enough to get points at home, so that says to me there’s something mentally wrong with them.
“Some of these players are mentally weak because you have to be mentally strong away from home to get those points.

“I thought Everton started the game okay to be honest, I thought Everton were the better side.
“But as soon as Spurs started to get through the defence just couldn’t hold up.
“For the first goal obviously Keane put it in his own net, the second one Pickford should have got – you can’t be giving teams like Tottenham two goals head start, you just can’t, because you’re going to come unstuck.
“It kind of unravelled because it doesn’t matter who you put back there when you’re 3-0 down, you concede straight after half-time, there’s no way back and it’s damage limitation after that.
“What Frank Lampard’s got to do is obviously he’s got to challenge the players, whoever plays, but as long as they stay up I think you’ll see wholesale changes in the summer.

“Frank Lampard knows they’re not good enough, it’s that simple, they are not good enough to sustain any sort of consistent challenge, for anything, and that’s a problem.”
The club are sure to make changes after the debacle that this season has been, whether they are relegated or not.
But how many changes can be made in light of the loss of Alisher Usmanov’s sponsorship remains to be seen.
And with the decisions coming from the top of the club helping get them into this position, there is no guarantee that the next ones will be the rights ones either.
In other Everton news, BBC’s Phil McNulty was scathing in his criticism of every aspect of the Spurs defeat, aside from one player.
